You have asked:
Describe a few uses?
1.You have a grayscale photo and you would like to provide the customer with color
2.You have a 2-color press and you would like to print your customers’ color photos
3.You just like the duotone effect resulting from match colors
4.You have a CMYK photo on your 5-color press and the customer would like the photo to have more warmth. You add a fifth color using an orange match color ink.
5.You are printing a photo of machinery and you would like to add a metallic fifth color
6.You use a color outside the CMYK gamut for your logo. Use that color for your photos too. In fact there is no gamut limit to duotone colors.
Does Isis Locus use ICC profiles and color management?
Yes and no. The source image is in Generic RGB color space provided by a color profile. All the views are in the color space provided by your monitor’s color profile. All duotone conversions are accomplished with proprietary calculations.
How do I select match colors like Pantone*?
There are many web sites that list Pantone colors. Try graphic arts sites or images.google.com. Use the Color Picker to select the Pantone color color you desire. Ink and paint manufacturers’ web sites also display colors.
How does the Color Recommendation work?
Originally photographs were only duotones. The mineral content of the chemistry provided a coloration. Gold provided an orange tone. A platinum print is an example of this process. The Color recommendation suggests a second color that simulates such historic photographs.
