Your photos and print jobs deserve the best halftone reproduction. Icefields has the tools you need to control and make great dots-on-paper.
Icefields is a merger of image-processing and raster-processing applications.
Just look at what you can do....
Soft proofing
Icefields provides great visual feedback. The main window contains the working view. It soft-proofs composite and separation modes.
This illustration shows the main window.
A wealth of image processes
More importantly, Icefields provides an large selection of tools or image processing. Make duotones, quadtones, and separate a fifth color. Under-color removal, tonal reproduction curve adjustments, color adjustments, scaling, and colorspace transformations prepare your images for Icefields AM, FM and hybrid halftones. Save the result as contone TIFF or halftone separations in PDF.
This illustration shows the many tools window.
The preferences you need for automatic control
Use the preference to save settings you use for all your images. Insert data for a 15-point tonal correction, and a quick 3-point interface. Control your halftones with your device dpi, your desired AM lpi, FM and hybrid dpi, the raster ppi for your PDFs, and your perferred gamma value.
This illustration shows the Preference window.
Easy access to tools
The main window contains your frequently used tools.
•Control the softproof view’s zoom and move the image in its window.
•Change CMYK to grayscale and back.
•Make real negatives, not color space negatives.
•Perform scaling to ensure the correct image size.
•Make halftones in CMYK, any channel or grayscale.
•Print the halftone to your printing device
•Save the halftone as TIFF for import into any image processing application or in PDF to view and print on any PDF reader.
This illustration shows a negative of a grayscale image.
Duotone creation you have dreamed of
View each color and the result of the ink mixture. Control the tonal values of each ink color. Make a CMYK document for proofing or a unique file with each ink color placed in separate CMYK channels. Then select your halftone type.
This illustration shows two green inks and one gray ink.
Quadtone control like no other
Isis Imaging invented quadtones, including the algorithms and inks in 1997. Icefields provides incredible control and soft proofs each ink.
This illustration shows three grays and black inks.
Spot color creation and separation
Spot color creation is an important tool for five-color offset, silk screen, and carbon-dye photography. Select your ink color with the color picker, separate that color from your image, make a grayscale version, and use an FM halftone to avoid moire.
This illustration shows a flesh-tone ink separated from the photograph.
Under color removal or color knockout
Control the removal of under-color to reduce the amount of ink buildup for print reproduction, Control the ink either under the spot color or under the black separation.
This illustration shows the under-color controller and the knockout of the above spot color.
Removal of the color underneath black is important for printing black text without rich color.
This illustration shows the knockout of cyan, magenta and yellow under the text in a PDF page.
Image processing at system speed
Last minute color correction is provided with Apple Inc’s great correction tool.
This illustration shows an increase in contrast applied to the small view. The result is then applied to the main view for further processing.
High-quality halftones
Icefields creates beautiful FM and AM halftones after the pre-halftone processes.
These illustrations show the FM screen followed by the Hybrid screen and the AM screen. (Copy and paste the illustrations in an application like Apple’s Preview and zoom to actual size to view the halftone patterns.)
Flexible selection of color channels
Create the halftone for full color and C, M, Y, and K channels, and from a grayscale version.
These illustrations show the AM screen for the black separation and for grayscale.
Save in the manner you need
Save as TIFF in 32-bit interleaved CMYK or in 8-bit individual channels and grayscale.
Save as PDF in 1-bit per separation CMYK or 1-bit individual channels and grayscale.
Rip your files offsite and offline. Print remotely.
